Governance Program
Equipping autistic adults to contribute to governance and decision-making across sectors.
The Governance Program is for autistic adults who are interested in taking a role on a board or other governance body, such as an advisory council, and want to develop their knowledge and skills in corporate governance. This program helps participants to:
- contribute to organisational decision-making
- develop knowledge and skills in corporate governance
- network with autistic people interested in corporate governance and with current board directors.
Program activities
Participants develop their skills through a series of activities including:
- completing online modules on directors' duties and responsibilities, risk and strategy, financial literacy and effective governance
- attending a 3.5-day, 3-night residential workshop
- completing a practical component.
Program impact
I am confident now that I am well equipped with the well-rounded knowledge the program has given me. I've also learnt a lot about what board participation looks like and have been inspired by other participants and their experiences. I feel well placed to seek out a board position.
I have learnt so much from this program and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to take part. Before I started, I felt I knew so little, and being on a board for the first time was overwhelming. This program has helped me understand all I needed to know in a way that made sense for me, and connected me with people and places to continue learning.
